Hybrid Seat
This seat explores the balance between structural precision and material softness through a hybrid seat design made from aluminium and recycled HDPE. The lightweight aluminium frame expresses strength and geometry, while the reprocessed plastic top introduces warmth and tactility. Together, the two materials highlight the potential of circular manufacturing — durable, fully recyclable, and distinctly contemporary.
The result is a minimal yet characterful object that celebrates the visible details of its making: CNC-cut legs, melted and reformed plastic joints, and a sandblasted finish that refines industrial materials into something quietly refined and human.
The process involved iterative prototyping, hands on experimentation with materials, and testing different interactions to refine both form and function. Each stage focused on understanding how the design would feel, respond, and connect with the user.
